Safari & Boat Tour

“Best day of our holidays Gil picked us up from our hotel and the fun started straight away, he told us many facts about Portuguese traditions as we drove out of the town. It was so good to experience the "real" Portugal away from the crowds - we got to taste fruit straight from the trees, went to a cafe up in the hills and had the best orange juice ever! The kids loved the off-road driving, learnt some facts about the Cork industry and even had a small taste of the firewater. Gil then dropped us off at the marina and helped us to find our boat for the visit to the caves. That was fun too, the kids loved it! No dolphins spotted sadly but it was still good fun. At the end of the boat trip, Gil was there to pick us up and bring us back to the hotel. Everyone said it was a great day out and we definitely recommend that you book these tour!”

“Great day trip We booked in for the combo 4x4 Safari Tour and Boat Trip. We were picked up from our hotel and were phoned to say that our guide was caught in traffic and would be approx 5-10mins late - fantastic service in my eyes as not many companies do this! Firstly we visited the local farms, mountains, springs - tried the local honey and firewater. Our stop in Alte was great, the bakery was amazing - try the almond custard tarts, they are to die for! Our guide Phillip was great and was full of knowledge which he shared with us. The second part of the trip - boat - we were dropped off at the marina where we were booked in and told we had a short time before our boat departed. The boat trip was not with Zebra Safari themselves, it was with another company, X-Ride. They place people in seats so don't try to push in to 'pitch' a seat. You will be picked and seated in order. Youngest children will be seated at the back, along with those who have bad backs etc. Those with no issues will be seated at the front - for good reason. These boats are fast and the ride isn't a comfortable one - the back of the boat offers a lot smoother ride and more protection. We didn't see any dolphins, but that's nature for you! The caves and coastline offered a lovely view.”

“3 hours ago Riesen Lob und Dankeschön an Jil unseren Tourguide während der Jeepsafari. Wir hatten einen tollen Tag mit vielen interassanten Fakten über Land und Leute fern ab des Massentourismus. Die Mitarbeiter von Zebra Safari Tours sind sehr bemüht, dass ihre Gäste einen unvergesslichen Tag erleben und sich wohl fühlen. Das Ganze sehr locker und lustig. Im Anschluss die Bootstour war ebenfalls ein Erlebnis und tatsächlich haben wir Delfine finden können. Beschwerden über ausgetrocknete Wasserfälle sind unnötig, die Veranstalter können nichts für das Klima. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Tag und empfehlen Zebra Safari Tours ganz klar!!! Gerne wieder”

“FANTASTIC! This was amazing, we started with a 4x4 tour with Gil he was amazing, so funny and full of knowledge, we tried, Honey, nuts and alcohols and learned all about cork! With a super fun car ride along the way! We then got taken to the cruise ship with so time in between for dinner at the harbour & a cocktail! We got on the boat and not Long after were so beyond luck to see wild dolphins it was a priceless experience, after this we saw some beautiful caves and small beaches - again a lovely tour guide with safety at the heart of what he did! We then were taken back to our hotel! honestly could not ask for more! Thanks again!”

“Absolutely superb! Myself and 2 friends went on the combo safari. Our guide, Jonas, was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, respectful and had a great sense of humour. He tailored the tour to what we wanted to see and do. As the weather was not the best we started of with the boat trip. Jonas collected us from the hotel and dropped us off to the harbor where we boarded our boat. The captains were great and very knowledgeable about the caves and the formations. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins through no fault of the company but due to weather conditions. Although the captains tried very hard to try spot them. After this we went on the jeep safari where Jonas first started the tour by taking us to visit a windmill and learn the history of them by a fantastic volunteer. He then let us feed carobs to 3 majestic donkeys. He also explained what carob is used for. He showed us lemon and orange trees and was thoughtful enough to pick some oranges for us to sample. He explained a bit of the history of the algarve and the history of almond trees in the algarve. We visited the village of Alte and had some lunch. We then went through the mountains to see cork trees. We then had a real 4x4 experience through mountain terrains. Great for thrill seekers. Throughout the day Jonas was constantly ensuring we were okay and asked what we'd like to see. Due to the weather and the season we weren't able to see water based places but this was made up by all the other things we got to experience. 100% recommend zebra safari!”

“Amazing tour! Not sure where to start! We began the day with Miguel picking us up from the hotel,he took us to the marina where we had the boat trip. The guys on the boat were great with a good sence of humour, unfortunately we did not see any dolphins but you can't blame the company for that, as dolphins are wild animals. Then we went along the coast line going into the caves which was amazing superb views. After the boat trip we have just over an hour to walk around the marina and have some lunch (food is not included in this trip). After which Miguel picked us up and we went on to have the safari part. Big thanks to Miguel and Fred they were amazing guides, with great sence of humour, very knowledgeable and good entertainment all around :). There were only 6 people on the tour so it did not feel commercialised at all. We had loads of interesting stops along the way, did not feel rushed at all (it did help March being the off season). We got to try some "fire water" and local honey (you can buy these from the lovely lady who is in her 80s and still going!). Miguel and Fred took us to an amazing cafe in Alte, with the best chocolate cake and the view was to die for! Definetely recommed this and have your treat on the balkony (prices for coffee and a cake are very reasonable). Last stop was the waterfall where you can have a swim if you want, but in this occasion it was too cold. All in all it was a highlight of our trip and would definetely recommend it! Again massive thanks (obrigado) to Fred and Miguel for being great guides!”

Pedro and Paulo also gave a great tour on the boat, showing us the beautiful coastline and giving us our first sighting of dolphins. Fantastic experience!”

“Highlight of our trip! This day trip was absolutely incredible, just the kind of thing we were after! Me and my boyfriend went to Albufeira to join my parents out there for a week and as much as we love the sun and relaxing, we are always looking for somewhere to explore, so when we found this we thought it sounded great! First of all, the day before we were meant to go i was very ill with sunstroke and so I called the company and they changed our day for us with no trouble at all to make sure I was well enough for the trip - super nice staff on the phone and no fee for the change of date. We were picked up in a 4x4 safari jeep which was very cool and it just so happened we were the only ones who had booked that day so had the tour to ourselves which was great! We spent the morning exploring Portugese mountain villages which included seeing an ancient castle, a local distillery (you must try their honey!), a working windmill, a bakery with the best Portugese tarts and some time in the water of a fountain in a village called Alte. Then our guide took us to the marina where we were shown where to go for our boat trip. Again, the boat trip didn't disappoint. We saw lots of Portugal's famous caves and private beaches, all of them stunning, and then went dolphin watching. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins but that's no one's fault. The boat trip was still lots of fun, if you like speed this is the one for you! Overall, this was the highlight of our holiday. I must say a special thank you to our tour guide He had a perfect sense of humour, was so well informed and wanted to share all of that with us and he also made sure we were safe and had seen, done and asked everything we wanted. I can't remember his name, but whoever did this tour on Friday 24th May then thank you so much, you were incredible! The guys on the boat were also amazing, there were people on board who spoke lots of different languages so they made sure everyone got the info they needed. They spoke passionately and with lots of knowledge about the sights we were seeing and they made us feel extremely safe and comfortable. If you have the time, I would 100% recommend this trip. Me and my boyfriend are 22, however I think the whole family would enjoy this one and it's definitely worth the money!”

Merci Gil pour ta gentillesse et ton français parfait . Nous avons fini par la sortie mer (un peu moins convivial) mais qui nous a permi de découvrir le relief des côtes et des grottes ... Benagli superbe ! avec comme cerise sur le gâteau une magnifique rencontre avec les dauphins.”
