A Story of Family and Tradition:
Our adventure begins at the family home, the residence of this passionate beekeeping family. One of the young siblings, heirs to this legacy, will welcome you and share the story of their family, a saga of dedication to bees that spans decades. You will have the opportunity to see an old traditional beehive, a living testament to knowledge passed down from generation to generation.
The Surprising Connection: Honey and Cork:
Our journey also takes us to explore the connection between beekeeping and another Algarve treasure: cork. Portugal is a world leader in the extraction and commercialization of this natural product, an important contributor to our economy. We will discover how the cork oak tree, which gives us cork, is related to the bee ecosystem. Along the way, our experienced driver will share a secret about a new and surprising use of cork in the United States. A curiosity that will surely surprise you!
A Walk Through the Scents of the Algarve Countryside:
We will embark on a short trip to the farm where the bees work tirelessly. Along the way, let yourself be enveloped by the unique scents of the Algarve countryside. The fragrance of rosemary, the intense aroma of the strawberry tree, and other wild scents create an unforgettable olfactory landscape.
The Kingdom of Bees Revealed:
Prepare yourself for a fascinating encounter with the inhabitants of the hive. Guided by our beekeepers, you will learn to recognize the Queen Bee, the central figure of the colony, and the drones, the males of the species.
The Grand Finale: A Divine Tasting:
After this immersion into the world of beekeeping, there’s nothing better than tasting the fruits of the bees’ hard work. Delight in a tasting of the honeys produced by the family, appreciating the different nuances of flavor and aroma that the Algarve nature offers. This tour is made on board 4×4 all terrain SUVs or aboard a comfortable Minivan and driven by experienced drivers/tour guide who will ensure you have a safe and highly entertaining experience during your trip across the Algarve region.
Notes:
- Pick-up and drop-off at designated areas between Armação de Pera, Albufeira and Vilamoura.
- Baby seats and highchairs available free of charge.
- On tours where we have a meal option, customers can choose to have a traditional meal with us at an additional cost, which varies according to each tour, of €15 or €25 per person, paid in cash to the driver at the start of the tour. Customers can also choose another location or bring their own meal.
- If you choose to have a traditional lunch with us, you can request a vegetarian option in advance. Allergies and intolerances must be informed in advance.
- All our guests are fully insured.
- If the transport breaks down unexpectedly during the tour, we will not refund the money, we will give the client the opportunity to take the selected tour on another day.
- We reserve the right to reschedule the tour or suggest a different experience available that day if the minimum number required is not available.
